POKER IS CANCELLED TONIGHT MARCH 3RD AT ALL PPPL VENUES - SHERIDAN'S, TIFFANY'S, MARLEYS...

And the Winner is…..

The first Maxi Tournament was held at Sheridan's Lodge in Andover on February 28th and was a big success. 55 of the top players in the league assembled with the idea of taking home the top prize. But in the end only one could win and that person was Stepanie Melicharek representing Marley’s Gotham Grill.

FIRST PLACE: STEPHANIE MELICHAREK (Marley's)

2nd: Don Miller (High Noon)

3rd: Joyce McDougall (Tiffany's)

4th: Pat Herrmann (Sheridan's Lodge/Max's Station House)

5th: Donna Ferrari (Sheridan's Lodge/Max's Station House)

6th: Gene Altenburg (Sheridan's Lodge)

7th: Bunny Katz (Orange Lantern)

8th: Tom Quidore (Tiffany's)

The final three players fought a grueling battle lasting almost an hour and a half, during which time the three each held the chip lead at one time or another. Joyce's cards turned ice cold and she was finally eliminated by Don, much to the disappointment of her supporters from Tiff's. The ensuing heads-up was also arduous for both, until Don raised his level of aggression and began to win several uncontested pots. Steph's chip stack dropped low several times and she doubled up on called all-ins a few times. Finally, with Steph down 2/3-1/3 to Don, Steph made a three time raise, which Don called after announcing in advance that he probably shouldn't be calling. After an innocent-looking J-8-4 rainbow flop, Steph made another 3-timer bet and Don raised all in. Steph went into the tank but finally made a "what the hell" call, showing pocket kings. Don revealed a 4-6 suited. Steph dodged the sixes and fours on the last two streets to reverse the chip count between her and Don. Not more than a few hands later, Don went all-in after the flop with two pair. Steph revealed middle pair with an ace kicker. Steph drew an ace on the turn to take the lead in the hand, and dodged Don's out cards on the river to end the battle and win the top prize Visa gift card. Don's second-prize Visa card put a smile on his face, also.

Stephanie was "On Fiyah" in February -- she won the Winter Mini-Reej three weeks ago. Pat Herrmann was the only other player to make the final table at both the Mini-Reej and the Maxi. She also finished 4th in the Mini.

Congrats to Stephanie and all the players who made the final table and went home with Visa gift cards for their efforts, fine play, and taking maximum advantage of the good cards when they received them..

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME... er, US? Two prizes for two to be awarded

WHAT ELSE? Double Bulldog Points

*This is a pairs tournament, so find someone to team up with and sign up.

*We will run two simultaneous tournaments, so when you register, designate which of you will start in the A and B tourneys.

*All will start with 12k in chips. Blind levels and times will be the same as in a mini-regional.

*At the conclusion of the first blind level, partners will switch tables, but they will leave their chip stacks behind, so on the second blind level, each of you will play the chips left to you by your partner. This procedure will occur at the conclusion of every blind level.

*When one partner is eliminated, he/she will remain on the sidelines until the blind level is raised. At that time, he/she will re-enter the game and his/her partner will go to the sidelines.

*If one partner leaves or refuses to continue while his/her partner is still playing, his/her partner will be eliminated at the end of the blind level.

*A couples-appropriate prize will be awarded to the winner of each tournament.

The venue with whom we are negotiating requires a two-week-in-advance count of participants, so you must register before February 1st. This is going to be a fun format, so please get in on the fun and sign up early.

News and Events

November 09, 2014

Bittersweet Good-Bye

Dear Players:

It has been 9 years since we formed Players Pub Poker League and we have formed many friendships and made so many memories along the way.  We have enjoyed our years with all of you and are so thankful for the time we shared.

On November 1, 2014, we handed over the reigns of the League to our valued Poker Manager, Randy Dannenfelser and his wife Barbara.  We are excited to see their ideas for the league and we know that any changes that they make will bring forward another chapter for the League.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your support and friendship through the years.  It truly enhanced our lives to be a part of your lives.

We wish Randy and Barbara every success in their new venture and we hope that you will continue to support the League and enjoy all it has to offer.

May all your pots be big and your hands be winners.
